How Did You Initially Become Interested in Solar Energy?
I’ve always considered myself a bit of a tree-hugger. When I went to college in New Jersey almost 30 years ago, I was excited because there was state-mandated recycling, and each dorm room had a trash can and a recycling can. Since then -wherever I’ve lived- I’ve sought out a place to recycle my cans, glass, and plastic, sometimes storing items for several months, then driving up to 20 miles to take them to a recycling center. Now, I’m fortunate to own my own home and live in a community that has curbside recycling pickup. As a long time “Reduce, Reuse, Recycler”, solar just made sense.
What Drew You To Our Company In Particular?
I was very impressed by what Go Solar Program had to show me. I was presented with a fully-realized, professional proposal that clearly outlined the financial benefits, and what my clean energy package included. It’s been an interesting journey getting the panels installed and turned on. I had to deal with my HOA who thought they had power in the situation (they don’t! Learn more about that here), as well as overcoming various mild hurdles in getting it installed and turned on. Go Solar Program has done a great job of staying in touch to ensure that everything has been done properly. The system has been on for almost two weeks now, and I love being able to pull up the app on my phone to see what my energy production was for the day.
What Are You Looking Forward To After Going Solar?
Definitely looking forward to getting further along in the process to where I can see the benefits of Net Metering, with a credit in my favor!
What Issues Surrounding Clean Energy Matter To You The Most?
When I first contemplated putting solar panels on my roof, I wasn’t sure what I would think of the aesthetics. My environmental side pushed forward, though, figuring that I would wait and see. Now that it’s been installed, I can say that the panels are very subtle, and in fact quite beautiful. It also gives me joy and satisfaction in knowing that soon my home will be completely self-sustaining in regards to electricity. Overall, I am very happy that I made this choice, and look forward to many years with this great new whole home solar system!
