Take a look at what’s been happening in the solar industry news this past May 2017.
Solar Energy is Here to Stay
Feeling a little down since news broke that we’ve left the Paris Climate Agreement? Despite the new administration’s attitude towards clean energy, jobs in the renewables industry are booming (there are more than twice as many jobs in solar than in coal), and economists feel confident that solar is here to stay.
Florida Is Feeling a Little Sunnier
Florida has officially upped its solar game! As of early May, lawmakers passed measure SB 90 to put into effect Amendment 4 that passed last August of 2016. The measure makes renewable-energy equipment exempt from state personal property taxes. While some take issue with last-minute provisions added in (you can learn more about that here), Representative Lori Berman from Lantana shares that she’s “not prepared to wait any longer for Floridians to have the ability to access solar.” Hear, hear!
Solar Blinds
SolarGaps is helping bring solar to city folk who may not have the roof space to take the full clean energy plunge with their solar window blinds. They’re able to be mounted either inside or outside of windows, and the blinds’ automatic tracking mechanism allows them to adjust to the sun’s position throughout the day. Cool stuff!
